Chili

Fireweed Chili at the Beer and Chili Fest in Mt. Crested ButteIn Crested Butte, we’re crazy about good chili. We take pride in our location in the Southwest and our chili is an expression of that pride. Expect big, bold, chili flavors. We usually have a good mix of traditional chili and new variations on the dish. Bring a big appetite and expect to leave fat and happy.

Chili Eaters

The gates open at 11:30am September 9, 2017 and chili should be the first thing on your agenda. The chili portion of the festival runs from noon until 3 PM or when our chili cookers run out of chili, whichever happens first.

On your way in the door, we’ll give you a disposable chili cup and a spoon. But disposable doesn’t mean 1-time use. Help us help the planet by keeping track of your cup and spoon and using them for all of the chilis.

We’ll have a People’s Choice winner from the chili cook-off, so make sure to make note of your favorites and don’t forget to vote.

When it gets too hot, grab a cold beer from one of our beer tents to cool down while you listen to the music.

Chili Cookers

You don’t just enjoy chili. You obsess over it. What type of chili peppers. Ground or stew beef? Maybe pork for your green chile. Every decision counts when you’re crafting your chili. A perfect balance of hot, sweet, savory, and meaty. If that sounds like you, we want you to bring your chili to chili & beer.

You are the heart and soul of Chili and Beer. Without your tasty creations, we wouldn’t be able to make it happen. As a thank you, you’ll get in for FREE!

Entry Requirements

Entry into the festival is free for all cookers. Just cook up 5 gallons of your best chili in advance. You won’t have access to electricity so gas burning camp stoves (think Coleman-style) will be necessary. To enter the contest, we must receive your entry form the Thursday before the festival.

If you agree to make 10 gallons of chili we will reimburse you for $250 on the day of the festival. This deal applies to the first 8 people that contact events@cbchamber.com. You must have your receipts with you to receive reimbursement.

We provide you with a table, tent and 2 complimentary tickets.
Load in is from 9:30-10:30 am at the Crested Butte Mountain Resort base area on September 9.
