CB Traffic Jam!
CB PHOTO OF THE DAY: A CRESTED BUTTE TRAFFIC JAM
In the mountains, we live life a little bit differently. Take traffic jams for example. This afternoon traffic slowed to a crawl outside Crested Butte on Highway 135 thanks to some cowboys and cows - lots of cows. Cars and trucks slowly made their way through and on to their destinations. Each one of those drivers had to say to themselves, "This is Colorado!"

July 9th: The Land of John Wayne and yes...another rainbow
We had to throw this one in to continue what has become CB/Mt. CB Photo of the Day Rainbow Series [top right of photo]. Harmels is located up Taylor River Road, south of Crested Butte and just outside of the historic summer retreat of Almont, Colorado. Harmels and Almont are jumping off points for GREAT whitewater rafting and the best river fishing Colorado has to offer. Can you name the John Wayne movies filmed here? Give us a shout on facebook for a chance to win a great prize.
July 8th: A Crested Butte Rainbow
Matthew Berglund of iitsaburgland.com sent us this Photo of the Day after catching this rainbow in downtown Crested Butte. Its a land of rainbows - Come join in the fun!

Thanks to friends out at Blue Mesa for this outstanding Photo of the Day. Blue Mesa has everything to escape that hot summer day; from pontoon boat rentals and waterskiing to catching crawfish and huge trout. This reservoir is the largest in the state that has also produced the state's largest lake trout caught back in 2007 weighing over 50 pounds. - Come join in the fun.
July 6th: "Evening Rain"
Thanks to Crested Butte's own adventure photographer Matt Berglund [http://www.itsaberglund.com/] for this CB Photo of the Day. Matt captured this great evening rain shot the other evening. Matt calls this "Even Rain.." This is right inline with what is happening throughout the valley as rain has returned to the valley!
July 5th: Oh what a parade
July 4th attracted people from all over the globe to participate in what has to be, hands down, THE BEST JULY 4TH PARADE IN THE US! Over 6,000+ of our best friends shared this great day in Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte.
July 4th - An Independence Day morning
July 4th is upon us. Folks are pouring into this end of the valley like melting snow into a mountain stream. Call it, getting out of the heat or just hanging with family. Maybe it is your first time here but for many it has become a tradition. Floats decorating parties are taking place, pounds and pounds of pancake batter is being mixed and everyone asking, "When does the parade start?"
Scarp Ridge - CB is a beautiful as I remember!
"Here is a photo from a hike up Scarp Ridge yesterday with a good friend.

Another beautiful day in the Butte! But, why Butte?
6/29/12
This photo of the day was taken at the Crested Butte Mountain Resort's base area where it is in the mid 60's and sunny! The Towns of Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte were named because in 1873 a geologist named Ferdinand Hayden was on expedition surveying the Elk Mountains and from the top of what is today knows as Teocalli Peak referred to present day Crested Butte Mountain and Gothic Mountain as “the crested buttes.”

Rainbow on Rainbow
Rainbow Park in Crested Butte received a welcome visit from rain and sunshine last night. It is easy to understand where this park received its name.
A Different Type of Rainbow
This Rainbow Trout was caught on the Upper Taylor River just outside of Crested Butte. Anglers are having an incredible summer. Finding the right place to cast a lure or fly can be tricky. Cut to the chase by grabbing one of the many guides!
