Housing
The wider Crested Butte community in the north end of the Gunnison Valley includes a variety of different regions, all within close access to the amenities of downtown Crested Butte and Crested Butte Mountain Resort. In addition, convenient, free bus service reaches most areas of the North Valley during the busy summer and winter seasons.
North Gunnison Valley Regions
In addition to the towns of Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte, residents in the north valley also live in Meridian Lake, Riverbend, Crested Butte South/Cement Creek, and rural parts of Crested Butte. Each of the regions has its own charms and benefits.
CRESTED BUTTE
The town of Crested Butte offers convenient walking or biking access to all of the amenities of town. Close to the Crested Butte Community School, downtown Elk Avenue, Nordic skiing, and the Mountain Express bus to the mountain.
MT. CRESTED BUTTE
The town of Mt. Crested Butte is nestled at the base of Crested Butte Mountain Resort. With a wide variety of housing ranging from small condos to large single family homes. Views of mountains in every direction and easy access to mountain bike and ski trails.
MERIDIAN LAKE
Development located in the Slate River Valley with views up the Paradise Divide. Stunning wildflowers and great access to hiking and Nordic skiing. A short drive or ride into either town.
RIVERBEND AND SKYLAND
Riverbend and Skyland are two developments located just south of Crested Butte off of Highway 135. Riverbend is a thriving locals’ community with homes, duplexes, and condos and quick access to the town of Crested Butte. The Skyland area is home to the Club at Crested Butte. From Skyland, you can easily access Brush Creek’s mountain biking and hiking trails.
CB SOUTH/CEMENT CREEK
Crested Butte South and Cement Creek can be accessed via Cement Creek Road, about 8 miles south of the town of Crested Butte. CB South is one of the largest population centers in the North Valley, friendly to families and dogs. From CB South, you can now get bus service to Crested Butte Mountain Resort in the winter. Cement Creek also has some of our best and least used mountain biking trails.
RURAL CRESTED BUTTE
Homes are scattered throughout our rural areas away from the population centers highlighted above. Although further from our amenities and the community of Crested Butte, many people enjoy the solitude of living in the more rural areas outside of Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte.
